Introduction
This report aims to highlight the various forms of violence women encounter and whether there are specific patterns of violence found among women in different countries with diverse backgrounds. Information concerning patterns of violence against women will be based on the comparison between the three latest annual reports concerning “Communications to and from Governments,” made by the Special Rapporteurs on violence against women Rashida Manjoo and Yakin Ertürk. The latest three annual reports have been released in 2011, 2010 and 2009 and the different forms of violence found in all three reports will be significantly discussed. The purpose of this report is to see whether the revealed patterns of violence against women are similar to the forms of violence experienced by Indonesian women and what sort of complaints regarding violence against women might be filed to the Indonesian government. However, it must be noted that only the communications sent in English are dealt with in this report due to language constraints.
