He added that Yudhoyono had asked Bogor Mayor Diani Budiarto to comply with the 2010 Supreme Court ruling that guaranteed the congregation’s right to hold services at the church.

The mayor has barred the congregation from conducting religious services inside the church for more than two years.

Julian said that the President also instructed Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto and Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi to intensify their efforts to settle the GKI Yasmin case last December.

“It would be unconstitutional to urge the President to interfere. Don’t ask the President to do something unconstitutional,” he said. (iwa)
