12th EU-NGO Forum on Human Rights
Brussels, 12 & 13 July 2010
"EU Human Rights instruments and the Lisbon Treaty: State of play and way-forward"
Last November, the Lisbon treaty came into force and brought substantial changes to the EU’s action in many ways. The Lisbon treaty strengthens the EU’s own commitment to human rights and confirms the promotion and protection of human rights as a key objective of the EU’s external action.
Belgim and the European commission will dedicated the 12th Annual EU-NGO forum to the EU human rights instruments and the Lisbon Treaty, centering on the state of play and the way-forward. Four specific topics have been chosen to illustrated in a concrete manner the general theme of the forum in workshops.
