Workshop on Developing National Human Rights Action Plans in ASEAN

In behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and the Working Group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, I am pleased to invite you to a Workshop on Developing National Human Rights Action Plans in ASEAN to discuss among ASEAN Member States the viability of coming up with National Human Rights Action Plans as a way to support the role of the recently established human rights institutions in ASEAN. The Workshop will be held on 11-12 November 2010 at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila, the Philippines.

The Workshop aims to provide a venue to discuss, share information and learn from the participants about the concept of National Human Rights Action Plans, including experiences on developing and implementing them for those who have one.

As participation to the workshop is dependent on the availability of slots, we would appreciate if you could confirm your participation as soon as possible. We also have some funding available for  organizations which have followed and engaged the ASEAN processes on  human rights. Please email us if you would need funding in order for  us to determine as well the extent and availability of the support that can be extended.

Attached are the rationale, tentative program, and registration form  for your guidance.

Should you have any questions regarding the Workshop, you may contact

Ms. Kris Merginio or Mr. Nathaniel Oducado through phone at (632) 899
3633 or (632) 899 7691 loc. 2109/2117; fax at (632) 899 4342; or email
