Global Forum 2011 Stockholm, Sweden, August 21-23, 2011

The Global Forum on Civil Society Law is the only global event that focuses exclusively on the legal environment for civil society. This invitation-only conference will bring together representatives of civil society, governments, multilateral institutions, and the donor community. The Global Forum 2011 will provide space for participants to build skills, compare experience, and strengthen links with colleagues working on the framework for civil society around the world.

Participants at the Global Forum 2011 will explore a diverse range of issues they helped prioritize. Illustrative topics include information and communication technology (ICT) and its connection to the freedoms of assembly, association and expression; the legal framework for philanthropy; strategies to engage governments and legislatures on civil society law reform; counter-terrorism and civil society law; public-private partnerships with civil society; and aid effectiveness.

“You almost contained the 'world in one room' discussing and empowering each other on civil society law of different nations across the world."
Participant, Global Forum 2005

The Global Forum is convened by the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL). Principal sponsors include the Swedish International Development Agency, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Ford Foundation.
